Game Classification

Super Puzzle Platformer is a mix of platformer, shooter, and puzzle games. The game's appearance is similar to a falling blocks puzzle game like Columns but here the player doesn't control the movement of the blocks. Instead, he controls a small character that runs and jumps around atop the fallen blocks.

The player is equipped with a gun which is used to shoot at the blocks. By destroying the blocks the player earns points. When shooting at a block, all adjacent blocks of its colour are destroyed, although the more blocks that are connected the more fire power will be required. The larger the destroyed clusters are the more points the player will get. When destroying blocks golden coins appear. By collecting these the player can upgrade his weapon and get more fire power. The player dies if he falls down onto the spikes that are at the bottom of the screen. He also dies if he touches the spiked blocks that occasionally drop. These can only be destroyed by destroying adjacent clusters. Being hit by a regular block doesn't kill the player although his weapon upgrade level will decrease with one. [source:mobygames]
