Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online is a browser game based on the Tiger Woods franchise. Like in traditional golf games the player participates in championships and tries to putt the ball with as few hits as possible. The controls support either the three-click or true-swing method: in the first the player needs to click the mouse with the correct timing to determine the hitting strength and in the latter he emulates the shot with mouse movements.
The difficulty level can be adjusted with various settings, e.g. the grass height or the starting position. The basic rule is: the harder the difficulty the higher the rewards for successful matches. Experience points result in a higher level which in turn improves several aspects like the handicap and money can be used to purchase several things: training sessions to improve the player characer's abilities and items which give certain bonuses.
It is a so-called "Free to play" game which means it can be played without charge but finances itself by letting the player purchase special in-game points with real money. These points are used to buy even more items and especially as entrance fee for tournaments - only three of the ten courses can be played without charge.
