TileRogue is a graphical remake of the well-known classic Rogue, which started the roguelike subgenre of RPGs.
As in the original, you enter a dungeon consisting of multiple randomized levels. On each level, there are monsters which you can fight. There is also a variety of items -- potions, scrolls, food, weapons, armor -- lying around. Careful when using these -- you never know in advance what spell a scroll contains, or what effects a potion does. It may be negative. Also, weapons and armor may be cursed.
Everything is shown from a top down perspective, but instead of using ASCII characters, this game uses graphical tiles (hence its name). Your immediate surroundings are shown in the top half, while the lower half contains the last messages and a small map of the part of the current level you already explored.
The game is controlled by pressing keys, as in the original, but you can also use the mouse to move around. There is also a menu bar from which you can choose actions -- so you don't have to memorize dozens of key bindings as in other roguelikes.
