In Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2 the player takes of the American Ghost team which has to stop an general who revolted his way to the North Korean top. In comparison to the PlayStation 2 version, the gameplay mechanics stay the same, but the storyline (which takes place in 2011 instead of 2007) and the 15 levels are different.

The gameplay has been simplified in comparison to its predecessor. While the player is still in command of a squad for most missions, he no longer sets way points to the individual soldiers. Instead he simply moves the cursor to an location and activates a context-sensitive command list or gives general movement commands. There is only one squad instead of two and the player can't switch to another squad member.

The gameplay itself mostly involves shooting enemies, but it is important to find out the correct tactical approach for every encounter. This made easier with the save system which allows to save at every time.The standard playing perspective is third-person, but it can be changed to the first-person view known from the other games in the series.
