In Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas the player takes the role of two anti-terror soldiers who search after their abducted teammates in five missions set in Las Vegas. In comparison to the other games in the series and the NextGen version of this game the player doesn't take command of a squad but only of a lonely fighter. Depending on the mission chapter he either plays as Brian Armstrong (assault) or Shawn Rivers (sniper). This means it is even more action oriented.
Nevertheless the game utilizes some of the features known from the series, e.g. the snake-cam which can be used to look behind closed doors. There the player can also mark an enemy and watch his movements even if the view is blocked. The player automatically ducks behind cover when approaching the wall - then the game switches to a third-person view. The game doesn't use self-generation health but there are no health or ammo pick-ups during the levels.
During the course of the game the player unlocks bonus material like concept art and the Terrorist Hunt mode in which the player comes back to the singleplayer maps and kills more terrorists.
