In the early 80's, the field test of a genetically enhanced corn species took place at Hedge Hill, a small town near Kansas City, Missouri. It found its way into the town's food chain and caused the mutation of what might have been a harmless infection to a deadly virus that changes the inhabitants into bloodthirsty zombies. Soon, Hedge Hill was overrun by the undead. Slowly, the virus spread outside the town's borders... At the same time, the college students Mike and Gerald had other problems: they still had a long way to drive and were almost out of beer. They stopped at a gas station just before Hedge Hill to stock up. What they didn't know: the gas station's personel already changed...
The gameplay of Trapped Dead is largely inspired by games such as Commandos or Desperados. Unlike other recent zombie games, players have to use tactic and cunning to make it through the zombie-infested town instead of destroying any undead threat in his way. The player controls up to four survivors at the same time during the single player campaign, each with unique and possibly helpful abilities. Fighting zombies heads-on is still possible but not recommended due to their overwhelming numbers, weak weaponary and a small supply of ammunition.
