The game Ulitsa Dimitrova refers to the name of a street in St. Petersburg in Russia. It was made by students of the Kunsthochschule Kassel in Germany and it tells the story of 7-year-old Pjotr who crawls out of a dumpster every day and lives on the streets. Although it is developed using the AGS adventure engine, it is more of a simulation of the boy's life, without clear goals, puzzles, an inventory, a storyline or an ending. All art and animations are drawn in ballpoint and the street is presented as a side-scrolling area that wraps around when Pjotr keeps walking in a single direction.
In this interactive environment one of the main objectives is to support Pjotr's smoking habit. He can bum cigarettes off a dealer by stealing signs of cars, or by breaking store windows to steal liquor and trade it with a glue sniffing kid. The alcohol can also be carried to his mother, a prostitute down the street, who gives him some money for it, which he can use to buy his cigarettes at a news stand. There is no pressure or ending to the game, and it goes on until the player is bored and quits.
There is also a recurring event involving a stranger and a single event where Pjotr is looking for friendship. The game is entirely controlled through the mouse and the cursor changes when interaction is possible.
