An exciting early (1994!) WWW implementation of the classic mainframe cave crawl Hunt the Wumpus, this version adds bonus complexity to the game's simple formula by adding a multiplayer option, pitting players in the cave complex together, both hoping to shoot the wily Wumpus without being skewered by their rivals' arrows.
Retaining the original subterranean threats of bats (randomly changing the player's location) and pits (step into one and: game over!) as well as the titular Wumpus, this version also adheres to traditional elements such as every cave being attached to three other caves (describing, originally, the vertices of a 12-sided dodecahedron). The interface is also a hybrid, navigation being handled by clicking on the picture of the cave the player will enter next (a text-only alternative is offered), while shooting an arrow into an adjacent cave is effected through a text entry form. (A "magic" arrow, it can travel through chains of caves up to 5 long, if the player cares to clean out the cave system that way. But careful inputting those numbers correctly, as invalid input will send the arrow careening randomly through the system, as dangerous to its archer as to any other cave denizens!)
