Yōjo Ranbu 2 The sequel to Y?jo Ranbu is not connected to its predecessor story-wise. It tells the story of Adalk, a young man who discovers that he was adopted by the woman who thought was his mother. He is determined to find out who his real parents were. Meanwhile, he is out on the streets of a big city and has no job, so his first goal is to find people who will help him to undertake dangerous missions as mercenaries. Naturally, those people are all pretty young women, which complicates the life of the young hero even more.

Y?jo Ranbu 2 plays similarly to its predecessor, with 3D locations and random turn-based battles, all viewed from first-person perspective. Friendly characters appear as 2D sprites. The playing area is larger than in the first game, with smoother animation. Characters in player's party can purchase magic spells, and also execute unique special attacks. The hero can also talk to them at night, and the player is able to make decisions and to influence his relationship with the girls.

As opposed to most other Japanese-style RPGs, the game advances as the player chooses missions available in the town. These missions gradually open up new locations within the town or on the world map. Completing low-ranked missions unlocks higher-ranked ones, which, in their turn, can be chosen by the player in any order. [source:mobygames]
