The Calangos game is based on modeling of a real ecological case concerning East Dunes San Francisco , in the state of Bahia, investigated by Brazilian researchers. The ultimate goal of the game is to allow the student an environment with sufficient realism, allowing a proper understanding of the ecological and evolutionary processes.
Calangos is a simulation game and action with 3D visualization in first or third person, set in the area of the dunes of the São Francisco River, in which the player controls a lizard one of three endemic species in the region: psammonastes Tropidurus, Cnemidophorus sp. nov., and Eurolophosaurus divaricatus .
This is an educational video game that should serve as a tool to support the teaching and learning of ecology and evolution at the secondary level of education. So this is not a game of direct exposure of content to be learned by the student player, but due to the learning experience in attempting to resolve problem situations.
