In One New Message, the player makes dialogue choices when texting with others but sometimes the available responses are not ideal.
Rather than responding with their initial responses, they have the option to "check in with themselves" by taking a step back. This helps players realize when they are stressed out and that their first thoughts about responding might be self-destructive.
Recognizing and acknowledging their stress gives them some space to re-consider better ways to respond. And fortunately there are in-game activities that will help them to lower those stress levels. Players may choose to engage in one of the many coping strategies available to them in the game.
If they decide to use one of the coping strategies, the de-stressed player should find themselves in a much better position to respond constructively. And as a result, new dialogue options are now available. Real-world tips are included in the game.
